Default airbox swiss cheese mod

so my air filter is soaked in oil and i have no idea how as i just bought the thing used from some dude, and he had no idea. so anyways i was going to buy a drop in replacement then thought about doing that whole cuz abunch of holes in the airbox mod that people do. any thoughts/concerns?

The oil is from blow-by and is drawn from the valve cover via the CCV. You might want to build a catch-can first.

I dont know if drilling a hole or wholes in your intake is a good idea... there is alot of debries under the hood... and its a jeep so i am sure some of it is mud and fine dirt.. you dont want that getting in there and then mixing with oil... just my .02

what about putting a k and n cone filter in the stock airbox? and catch can sounds cool, but idk if i can fab one, im new to this xj thing haha.
