well FINALLLY got a saturday to get in the shop for some free time and weld this rear end up around the tubes. actually about 25 minutes ago i finished ha. I kept it close to how you described Trev1006 and so far no cracks have appeared. And I received all my parts from Iron Rock Offroad to swap it so im shooting for the end of this month in and ready.

btw PINIT 141 check out iron rock offroad. really good people and have everything you could need to swap the 8.8 in

Both the 9" and the 8.8 fill with a plug next to the pinion, in the front.
