Is there anyway to make or buy a 40/60 rear seat...my dads truck has it and i think it would be much easier with that

ZJ seats are almost a direct drop in. You may have to drill a few holes in the floorboard with them though. I did the front ZJ seats and they are alot more comfortable as well.

I just 5 mins ago paid for a set of black/grey leather seats out of a 2007 Jeep Compass(same as the Patriot). The fronts are buckets and the rear is a 60/40 headrest bench. I'm not sure how the rear seat will fit, but thats what my welders is for!! Working in a custom metal fab shop helps too. I got all the seats for $460 shipped and at that price, if the rears don't work out, but the fronts do, I'm ok with that. I've heard the compass/patriot rear seats are a fairly close match to our XJ's. Anyway when I get the seats in, I'll post a report.

A 40/60 seat is a split seat. 40% of the seat can fold down while 60% of the seat stays up or visa versa.

it really helps if carrying something. You dont have to fold the entire seat down to carry something. allowing you to have 1 or 2 more people in the back.

I am very interested to see how this turns out!!!

I swapped a set of Grand front seats into my 96. They are much more comfortable for sure. I'm so happy I swapped. I had to though as the metal in my seats broke where one of the bolts are. They weren't a drop in swap, but all I had to do was swap my seat brackets over. The brackets from my 96 swapped easily onto the seats from the Grand. I may go to the JY and pick up the split bench and try it too. Another benifit for the rear passengers is the split bench adds headrests for them, at least the set I'm gonna get does.

Ok sorry here is what I know. They fit. Both the front and the rear just fit. You may have to modify the jeep to make the mounting holes and stuff line up but nothing like major fabrication. I did the front ZJ seats in mine. I do not have the structural bar in my 94 that the seat mount to so I had to use some angle iron to make it fit correctly but it is solid as a rock. Check the writeups section for the ZJ seat swap for the front I did. I have not and probably will not do the rear. Unless of course someone pays me to do it and then make a writeup...

As a side note the Grand Cherokee front seats should be easy to swap into the 97-01 Cherokees with the structural support bar. I am pretty sure that you just pull the bracket off the old XJ seat and swap it onto the ZJ seat?? Maybe. In any case its doable with a little bit of work.

Here is the link

I also later added a piece of wood underneath the carpet but its not necessary I just wanted the seat to be leaning in a bit to counter the effect of the modification to make them fol forward more in my cherokee.
