Default yj axles question

I'm looking at buying a '91 YJ with the 2.5 and a 5 speed. My question is, were the 4cyl jeeps all 4.10 gears? I believe I heard this before but YJ's arent my specialty and my old one had 3.73s but it was a 4.2L.

I dont believe so, I believe the 4cyl YJ had a 3.55 option aswell. But they all come with a d35 in the rear so you should focus on swapping that first if you plan on wheeling it.

Oh I know. This is going to get redone completely after I get that frankenjeep finished. But for $1000 and it runs fine with a very solid frame good 31's and nice wagon wheels. I can't pass up the deal just didnt remember what gear options the 2.5's had.

All YJ's were 4.10 gears and that was the only option for them, us less your in Canada than there were a few from 87-89 that also got 4.56's as a option but they were far and few between. The Canada YJ's also pop up from time to time with D44's in the rear also. I know the YJ's inside out. So if you have any thing you want to know feal free to ask..

Nick you are the YJ man! I will note that for future reference. Were the 4:10s in both 4 & 6 cylinder YJs?

So I'm getting this jeep would just like to know everyone else's opinion. 1991 YJ 4cyl 5speed, with 145 k. hardhalf doors with soft uppers with a full soft top, solid frame and body minus one spall bubbly spot on tub under driver door, everything works fine clutch and brakes and all, no carpet but floors and all that are solid, 15x8 black wagon wheels with 31x10.5 a/t tires with 3/4 life left. All for $1000 and a clean title. What do yall think? I'll post pics this week after i get it home.

that is very true becuase I'm picking up an 83 CJ 5 with the 258 and 4 speed on good 31's and it runs and is solid. Gotta drive 2 hours to get it but its a deal. and comes with a whole new top end for the 258 and a good full soft top. I think I might make out better with this one.
