My girlfriend has a Liberty and when she goes over any speedbumps, or big bumps in the road, no matter how slow, you hear the front end make this awful metal-on-metal kind of sound.
I don't really know what it could be. It's not like the coils are compressing enough for it to be a lack of bump stomps. It's gotten noticeably louder though over the past few months.
No noises when driving, only when we hit speed bumps. It's not just regular suspension creaking either, from being cold or anything. It's something going bad. I've got no clue, maybe it's a common problem.

Dont know if its common or not but sounds like a bad sway bar end link or strut, it could be almost anything that normally moves with suspension though like ball joints or something.
First thing I would try to do is get under it and start grabbing steering/susp parts and try to wiggle them or move them one way and the other, and see if you can find anything loose.
