Default Jeep Cherokee classic - transmission problems?

I have a Jeep Cherokee classic automatic from 2000
For a while now my car kind of rumbles/shakes when I am pulling away at junctions. It always seems to happen when I am going quite slow. Once at speed its ok.

My mechanic believes it likley relates to transmission. Either gears, u-joints or axle. He does not believe it relates to engine. I just had my head gasket replaced, but it has been doing it for sometime now.

Has anyone seen this problem before and know what the problem could be?

Thanks

I just read someone elses post about a clicking noise. It does sound very similar issue. In my case the noise is coming from the back of the car. If Im turning/reversing the noise is worse, especially if its a bit hilly.
