Just got a 2007 Ford Focus from my old man after he got it back from his ex. WAY due for an oil change. Here's the thing: engine has 106K miles. Runs well, no probs that I can tell except bad brakes a couple of other things resulting from the neglect of his ex. Anyways, I wanted to run the Valvoline MaxLife stuff and register for that 300,000 mile promise they have. But my father INSISTS that someone told him that the Focus can only use synthetic blend and not full synthetic. Is this true? Thanks guys.

I had a ZX3 a couple yrs ago and ran full synthetic Mobil 1. I never heard of this and I never had any issues. But it was the 2.3L Duratec not the 2.0 Zetec. Maybe you could find your answer on focusfanatics.com. It's a forum for focus owners.

Called the local Ford dealer and asked them. They told me my dad must have misunderstood what he was being told. They said synthetic blend was the MINIMUM recommendation for oil, and that running a full synthetic would actually be a little better and not hurt a thing.

Correct me if im wrong but I do believe that MaxLife is a Synthetic blend! I may be wrong as I use Mobile and dont read much a valvoline. Anyways maxlife shouldnt hurt but dont you have to run valvoline oil from the get-go and have record of all 3000 mile changes from a vavoline certified place for it to be valid?
