Nope no testing yet. For some reason its been raining here. It never rains. Next race is in 2 weeks but I think I am going to pass. I really want to put in an Accusump system before I go to another event. And I also need to put in stiffer rear springs, and change out a lot of bolts, and give the car a good once over, and modify the steering arm angles, and.... ya I got a lot to do before the next race. September is going to be the first race with all the new changes. Its going to drive like a completely different car.

I think I am going to put the Bug up on stands tonight and start tearing into the suspension to do the bolt replacement, modify the steering and switch out the rear springs. At least that is something I can do one corner per night. Might as well add an oil change and dip stick tube replacement to the list while I am there. And while I am there might as well relocate the gas filler neck so its easier to fill up. Man the list just keeps getting longer! Im sure I will find at least 5 more things to do while I am poking around.

Bug is up in the air and the steering mods have been started.

I thought I took a picture of the starting angle of the heim but I guess I didn't. That means you don't get to see how bad it was. Anyways, I chopped up the old mounts, ground away at them, made some new ends and tacked them in place. Much better now. Going to take the spindles to work on Monday so I can tig the pieces in place.

Next up from here, I got to pull out the steering rack and weld up some mounts that are about an inch over where its at now. Those parts wont be here until Monday. The rack really sucks to take out so I might come back to that at a later time.

Forgot to post the final pictures. Well almost final picture. They are painted and set back on but we will get to that later.

Now that it is ready to go back together and all the angles are good on the heims, its time to play with the suspension calculator. I have spent a couple hours playing with it and found a good compromise for the bump steer. I got it to where the car can twist 5° (think of it like 5° of body roll) and have no bump steer. The part that still has bump steer is anything +/- 3" of ride height. Then I get up to .02° of bump steer. I think I can live with that.

Lets see if this works. Nope not working.

Today I started doing the alignment. It really sucks to do. Normally takes about 3 hours if its off bad. This time, it was off a lot. The only thing that was still good was the caster, which was previously set to -8° and is still that. Front camber was originally set at -2° and the right side was still there. Left side was at -3.5°. Rear was originally set to -1° camber. Right side was at -.5° and left was at -2°. Its crazy how much they changed in such a short time. Toe coming next. Thats the time consuming part.

The Bug-in! I didnt even know. Shoot. I just need to put some gas in the bug and it should be good to go. I'll let you know for sure tomorrow. Sounds fun though.

We were going to, but just noticed it is suppose to be like really hot down in Fontana tomorrow through Sunday, and I don't do well in the heat.
So probably not at this point.
Better to just chill up here in WW. It does sound really cool however..

I think you are right, its going to be a bit warm. Probably close to 100. I'll pass too. Might head up to Arrowhead instead and enjoy a day on the lake.
