Default ZJ Wing Mirror Automation

Hello from the UK.

I am new to Jeep ownership and loving my '98 ZJ.

The car is in great condition with just 55k miles.

The only thing that is strange is that when I start the car, the driver's wing mirror tilts downwards (like my old BMW used to do when I reversed) and then stays there. So you have a great view of the ground.

After a few moments it's possible to use the control to tilt it back up again.

This happens every time.

Any thoughts?

Thank you,

Barnaby

Welcome! Wrong forum, though. This is for XJs. You will probably get better answers over here.

The mirror is supposed to do that, my mom's BMW does that, and we don't prefer that, but going through the menu there's no way to turn it off... the '96-'98 ZJ Grand Cherokees did have programmable features (horn chirp with press of 'Lock' button on remote, reverse-tilt mirrors, service interval, light auto shutoff time after you lock the vehicle with the remote, etc...), but you'd need to visit the dealer and have them hook up their OBD-II programming device to program them.

Welcome to the forum!
The quick & dirty is to adjust the mirror where you want it then unplug the electrical connector.

Thanks - thought this was the right place to post:
Jeep Cherokee Forum > Technical Discussion > Electronics Related
Didn't realise this excluded ZJs?!
It's definitely a fault - no way the mirror should tilt downwards when moving forwards.
Think I'll just unplug it...
