hello , I have a 97 zj grand cherokee with 5.2l engin .
this week i went back in the trails , was in 4low .and decided to do a smal drag race of like 100 feet on flat sand...,
herd a bang in the transmission . stoped ... didnt find any difrence , so works fine. 5 min later . less power and a zzzzzzzzz sound in the trany that follows the gaz pedal . and now dose it on every gear , including revers... so we decided to call it a night .. next day ... truck works fine ... 15 min later , cant go any faster then 40klm and the zzzzzz sound came back ... so I turn to the side , put it into park , stop the engin , wait 2 min , and start again ... and the truck works fine for around 15 min then all starts again .
I checked my oils and everything is fine ... so now Im hear looking for help ... where should I look ... can anyone help me ?

Yep, it sounds like the t-case blowed up. Good time for a built up 231.

 

um thenks for you replies guys.... ill check it out for the transfercase blow out . ... I only went up to like 50 km per hour ..it was just a small strech in sand ... maby like 50 to 100 feet ...

and other question what do you mean by 231 built up ?

but if its a t/c blow out , is it normal that the first 5 min that I drive my truck .. .it workes great ... its only after that five min that I start getting zzzzzzz sound and shift problems ....
