ZJ question
I have a 93 ZJ that is all wheel drive and I also have a 93 XJ with the np231 in it. Will the 231 bolt in or will I need to change anything else.

As long as the input shaft on the NP231 is the same, it should be a plug and play swap. You may have to swap out the drive shafts too.

what would be different with the driveshafts? Sorry don't know awhole lot about the Grands. the input shafts should be the same with them both being 93s shouldn't they?

The V8 input shaft may be different from the NP231 input shaft, and the length and the way the drive shafts bolt on may be different too. You'll have to count the splines and check the length of the input shaft.

I didn't think they used the all wheel drive t-case behind the 4.0, I thought only the v8 models got that. Oh, I just noticed you would be doing the swap from an XJ, in that case the drive shafts may not work on a ZJ because of the longer wheel base on the ZJ.

yeah both my brother and I have grands with the 4.0 that are allwheel drive. could I not use the stock grand drive shaft?

The real issue might be the style cv shaft that was used in your awd system. Having said that you will need the double cardian joint and not the ball and socket style and your front drive shaft.
