Default ZJ 4.0 into a WJ 4.0

New member here and thanks for all the info that flows on this site. i have been scouring the internet in search of an answer to a puzzling question with no luck. I really really miss my Jeep i have a chance to buy a 2000 WJ with a 4.0 for dirt cheap that has engine problems. Do not know the extent of damage or problems, but i have own a ZJ that has a 4.0 and i know everything about it. both vehicles are complete and i need to know if i can do a direct swap. take the engine from the ZJ and put it in the WJ and the extent of difficulty that it entails. any info or a direction to proceed with my research is greatly appreciated.

I think the block for the WJ is different at where the motor mount bolt on. I would bet the engine in the WJ has a cracked cylinder head.

***** could you elaborate a little more. it is a 98 and i looked on autozone and parts reference numbers match up somewhat but the block is different. i am having this back and forth whether it will work or not. i have everything. im not doing just the block i have two complete engines in two vehicles. im not swapping blocks although i suspect if the WJ block is ok i could take motors apart and get the WJ block running again but i want a direct swap in without the hassle.
