Check engine light after changing thermostat
98 4.0
I just replaced the thermostat, the housing, and the temperature sensor.
I now have a check engine light, with code p0118, which has to do with the temperature sensor. I'm assuming maybe this is just a bad sensor, but the last time It went bad, I didn't get a check engine light.
The temperature gauge is still working, and seems like it is where it should be
And my gas gauge is no longer working, suddenly
I am absolutely stumped as to what happened. I'm going to go exchange the sensor, but what else could this be? And why did my fuel gauge stop working

As for your fuel gauge, I'm going to say it's just coincidence, unless you find a short in the wiring that is close to that circuit, just bad luck I think, probably your sending unit going south...you won't know until you do some noggin' pokin'

I'm wondering if there could be any other cause
