wth is this thing

does anyone know what this is it was hanging inbetween my grill and radiator with a broken mount i have a 97 zj with a 4.0

my 98 zj has that also. i assumed it was for the airbags or the console thermometer or something. not sure tho.

I beleive that is the sensor for the ambiant air temperature.

It sends the temp to the overhead console readout. or wherever you compass/ temp readout is located.
