Well, thought I would share a tune tip. Got a can of CRC contact cleaner, took off the PCM connectors and gave them a blast. While there, noticed two large connectors just above and to the right, in the wiring harnesses. Gave them a shot too. Then there was another one with two wires, looked like it headed to the antenna, so, did that too, and another little one there also. Anyway, not much difference at first, but I quickly noticed two things. My transmission seemed smoother and didn't have its usual shifting hiccups, hanging on the upshift 2 to 3. Also, the oil pressure gauge now reads at a solid 49 3/4 lbs, it used to be that high but had fallen off it in the last year or two. And I could be imagining it but my battery voltage, cold battery key off, had been 11.9 but the charge at 14 seemed ok, cleaned the terminals up (not with the cleaner) and it helped a bit, cold batt was up to 12.4 in the morning. Changed the batt temp sensor and it charges higher on the dash gauge. So seems that the pcm cleaning did not hurt anything! Oh, also used in on a 23 year old Technics stereo, stopped the scratchy pots altogether and the air capacitor seems to tune fine. Just sprayed it at the pots cause couldnt really see where to spray in, but it found it's way in.

CRC makes good stuff. The original penetrator and water displacer was CRC 5-56 which you could only buy in gallon cans unpressurized or 55 gallon drums. Union Carbide blew open the market with WD40 and now everyone knows only that. BTW, my buddy set his car on fire by spraying his spark plug wires with WD40 while the engine was running! The propellant is propane and the stuff is flammable! D'oh!

I don't put any electrical connector back together that I have taken apart without giving it a quick spray with the CRC stuff. And depending on its location give it a blast of Fluid Film too once put back together.

When it pours it rains and snows. So Tuesday night my electrical systems started going bonkers. Park lights wont shut off, heater motor stays on, things flashing, uh oh. Wednesday morning I decided to take the fuse block off that is in the footwell and have a look. 13 wire harness connectors. 3 were green funk, and one actually had a pin broke off the block. The block is a multi layered affair, like a PCB board, and at the bottom where the water sprays it from the hole in the floorboard, it was separated and bulging with bright green funk.
$400 and no longer available at the dealer, by noon I was enroute to the junkyard, Walked in, saw a 98 zj (94- 98 works) and looked in the passenger side. There, on the seat, was an already pulled fuseblock, absolutely pristine as the day it was made. $16 + $3 for a harness connector. So soldered up one new connector, sprayed the other ones out, and by 5 pm had it all back together and every single thing works like new.
Oh yeah, $5 for a can of Great Stuff to plug that hole.
