HI My normally completely reliable 94 grand cherokee has a problem. In the past if I just turned the key it would start. Acouple of time last week it would not start right away but would start after a few tries At the store the other day it wouldn't start I about gave up For some reason I held down the gas pedal and it started let the pedal go it would stall .Got it restarted again ,drove it home,I needed to use one foot on gas and one on brake when at stop signs.I want to guess sensor but not sure maybe fuel filter? I always have done my own repairs ,Just don't like to guess Alan

 

You need a new Idle Air Control motor. Very simple to replace and inexpensive, about 40 bucks at NAPA. The new IAC motor will be the updated motor, the original motors had some problems.

Once you install it you'll have to let the PCM do kind of a relearn in order to get the engine to hold an idle. Just start the engine and keep it running, after a few minutes the engine should hold an idle and adjust when needed. You don't have to remove the throttle body, but you will need the correct size Torx bit for the two screws that hold it on.

 

Thats great I just went out to look at the motor to see what was involved ,fuel filter and iac should not be that difficult for me I do almost all of my own repairs I've just not had any problems with this Jeep in 7 years about.I've owned 7 jeeps in my time Actually rust was my biggest problems with most of my jeeps CJ-7's I'll let you know how it works out Alan

 

Bustedback thanks for the advice I had to work all week,so I just put the part in this morning .I turn the key It started right up I took it for a little ride It idles just like it used too Thanks again Alan
