Default wont start.

Hi all, I have a 2004 grand cherokee that will not start. it cranks but will not fire. the fuel pump will not prime but when we jumped the pump at the relay, the pump ran. I tried to start the jeep when we had the fuel pump jummped, but it would not start, so I dont think its getting spark. I cant check at the plugs because it has an ignition rail instead of wires. I have double and triple checked all the fuses and played musical relays to see if they were bad, still the same results. The fuel gauge also shows no fuel when it should have a half a tank.
It is an 04 2wd 4.0 automatic. any help would be great, I have no idea what the problem could be, I dont want to put it in a shop, but i might have to.

Could be the cam or crank sensor, but load test the battery first.

I have a 90 cherokee, so I know all about the dang crank position sensor lol, but I didnt think that it would make all the symptoms that I have. the no fuel and idiot light coming on. would the cps do that?
i dont think its the battery because I had to throw it into my cherokee to take the daughter to school after the wife took my car. it cranked hard and fired right up.

ok time to wrap it up, it was the crank sensor. I had no idea that it could effect the volt meter and the fuel gauge. if anyone else in the future sees this with the same problems, I was able to disconnect the cps connector and the gauges worked again so that kind of pointed me in that direction. Got the new one in, cranked her over and she fired right off!
