WJ starts hard then dies
Having a problem with my 2001 Grand Cherokee. The problem I'm having is when starting first time in the day it barely starts then dies. Have to step on the gas to start it also. Battery checks good and just put in a new alternator. Once it runs and warms up it starts fine. Wondering bad starter. My WJ 4.0 Engine has over 350000 miles on it and is the original starter. Any ideas?

won't be the starter, if it starts. a starter does just that, it starts the motor. the dying is something else. could be a number of things. is it throwing a code?

I suspect either the TPS or the IAC. When was the last time you cleaned the throttle body? It sounds like a sticking plunger on the IAC.
