I have a 00 WJ with 131K on it and one of my rear grease seals is leaking. My thought is if I'm going to tear it apart to change the seal, should I replace both bearings and seals now? Seems the logical thing to do. Feedback please.

 

Your going to have to press the bearing off to get to the seal (if it's like my 99),
so you may as well change it all while in there. Packe\ the bearing wioth grease
before installing. I had to redo mine.

 

So they are caged bearings, not rollers like a GM? Good to know as I've never done a jeep before. I think I'll wait 'til spring! My 67 Camero had needle rollers and were easy to change. I helped a friend do pressed on bearings in a 57 Chevy and the bearing exploded in the press, pretty near took off his arm! We got him to the ER quickly and saved his life. If he was alone, he would have bled to death. Not my idea of a good time although we got drunk afterward.
