Default WJ motor?

me being the loving boyfriend that i am, is going to be building a WJ for my girlfriend. the one i am going to buy is a 1999 limited. the guy spun a rod and it shot through the block, through the head, and through the vavle cover, needless to say the motor is toast. around me, there are only 2 junkyards that have the 4.7. one wants $1200 the other $1400 and advance autoparts wants $2700 for a reman. where can i get a cheap v8? noone on craigslist has them. can someone help me? and what is the difference in the years? the guy at advance said that the interchange is only 1999 and 2000, but they made the 4.7 up until 2004 didnt they???

i dont know the specifics but for the first few years they had the regular 4.7 then they changed it to the 4.7 ho and they arent direct swaps.

what are the differences between them then ?

In my 99 Wj 4.0, that blew at 190k, and a Wrangler 06 4.0, the only real differences was the model year.

I used everything from my 99, throttlebody, oil sending unit, motor mounts, and the CPU. The CPU is the electrical "distributorless ignition".
And the crank trigger ring from the 99.

everything was the same, and came together like it should.

I wonder if the 4.7's will do the same ?

Check and see if the crank ring will bolt to the newer 4.7, if it does, then everything else should be a piece of cake.
