Hello everyone, have some info I'd like to share in case anyone else has this issue...when I got my one Jeep, I didn't do much with it at first, started it one day to move it and the trans over temp light was on...odd. overdrive turned off and naturally it freaked me out. Now a quick bit of info on the Jeep. I bought it from near Rochester New York and at one point someone tried to steal it....ran mint and no serious damage was done. Anyways, I take it to my shop and start calling around to establish where the issue was. I was told by a few people it's the pressure sensor transducer, 42RE and it's easy enough to change. Mind u my fluid wasn't burnt and flow was good. (Even put in huge trans cooler) replaced the transducer and atf+4 and towed it home. Same issue. Sits in the sun all day. Lights are on when started. Hmmm...tow it back to the garage. More calls and mind you, the whole time my scanner is coming up as a 99 , Jeep is a 2000...any who, I finally establish that my pcm is to blame and buy a used one from another 2000. Install it. Start the Jeep and it dies right away. Hadn't thought about the ignition and skim module... go buy those out of the Jeep the pcm came from and low and behold, issue solved. These pcms are one year only so it had a communication issue with the trans because it was out of a 99. Still going to run the cooler as I'm planning on wheeling the crap out of the Jeep and keeping the 4.7 one we have for more civilized driving. Backwards, maybe but the 4.7 one belongs to the fiance and I'm not allowed to beat on it too much Lol.
