You have a leak in the system which means air and moisture has entered the system. You need to evacuate the system, repair the leak, vacuum the system to 30hg to boil out the moisture, hold it in a vacuum for a few minutes and make there is no leak, then recharge with the proper amount of refridgerant. Those Walmart recharge kits are only good for taking your money.

if theres a leak should i be able to see it, i checked all the lines and the canister seems fine, how am i supposed to find it?

take it to a shop and have them put dye in it. DO NOT do it ytourself. you can do some serious damage by not having the know how, or with those "stop leak" additives. Trust me, just take it to a shop.
