what would cause the 4.0 to spray water

what would cause the 4.0 to spray water
my 2002 cherokee is spraying water from the back driver side of the block. it dosent do it continuously only for a few seconds about ever minuet.. ive been told its a heater core line or a freeze plug but cant find either on that side of the engine ....

The most likely culprit is the freeze plug on the back of the head. It may be dribbling until steam pressure causes it to spray. The only way to get to it is to pull the head.
