I just snapped my right rear axle at the outer bearing it was a pretty good hit against a curb sideways and it sheared clean but broke the rotor and backing plate. Would this damage anything else within axle housing or the carrier housing, suspension ? Could i just replace the axle etc and not the whole rear end ?
Want to try to save the rear. Of course the axle and bearings were replaced 4 months ago , remember that mech pulled Diff cover said the ring/pinion looked brand new i.e recent rebuild.
edit : after some research rear diff is dana 35 3.55

Thanks Brian,
After doing some searches I did find great posts regarding the diff type and gear ratio. Mine in the 97 ZJ auto 4.0 6cyl, stock Laredo, is the Dana 35 3.55
Your point bout the axle tube well taken and it would be a ***** to replace/rebuild the right side and then come across more problems such as that or in the carrier. Ugh.
