95 GC stuck in gear?

Default 95 GC stuck in gear?
I'm about to buy a 95 Grand with rebuilt trans, but it's stuck in gear. You can move the shifter to get the key out, but as soon as you try to start it, it tries to take off. Any ideas? Think something broke/stuck in the valvebody, or is it something like a shifter cable? It's a 6 cylinder limited.
