What transmission in my 97 4x4 Grand???

Bought a 1997 Grand Cherokee "Limited" 4x4 for 300.00 with a thrown rod. Changed the 318" motor and installed my fabricated 8" lift, I tried to test drive it and the transmission slips badly. I stopped and adjusted the TV cable to be tight at full throttle but it didn't help. I know that it had to be operating properly when it threw the rod and the lady said that the transmission was working properly, fluid is up to the mark so if anyone knows what it might be, stuck solinoid, etc., give me some advice please.

Engine: 4.0 with all of the noise and clatter

Either a 44RE or a 46RE, but most likely the 44RE.

I'm in same boat man, bought mine for 350 with bad trans, then found out the front axle was shot after I got it running, know I'm stuck the worst DW ever.
