Your ZJ Jeep has the 44RE transmission.

The 46RE was only used in the '98 ZJ w/ the 5.9L engine.

Glad to help.

The 4WD transmission has a large, flat flange on the output, where the transfer case is bolted to the transmission. The 2WD transmission has a tapered housing cone at the output shaft.

The ATSG manual is very good. The FSM has an excellent transmission section, plus the FSM is a required document for owning / maintaining this vehicle.
