oh man, ive had the jeep bug since i was one year old...lol...when my dad bought a 1987 YJ in late 1986...brand new, first year for the YJ....

ever since i could talk, every time i would see a jeep CJ i would yell out "Jeep" and every time i saw a wrangler i would yell out "jeep wrangler"...lol...and the way i would distinguish between the two of them, was i would say "the one with the hill on the grill is a wrangler, the one with a flat grill is a CJ"...lol

and ever since, ive been struck with the jeep bug

I used to thing that Jeeps (my XJ) was the ****. I couldn't wait to work on it or spend money on it. After three years, that has changed. I'm tired of working on it, I'd rather have some cash on hand than spent on the XJ and actually regret buying it in a way (mostly financial). I also don't believe that any Jeep is an end all/do all vehicle, it's just a damn vehicle. I could be just as content driving most anything else 4x4 as long as it's a 5spd. That's why the reason for selling the XJ in a couple months.

With that being said, I'm looking into buying another XJ. This time it will be a 5spd, 4wd and stay mostly stock. Why???......because I like driving them and I think a 5spd would be even more enjoyable. They are reliable, easy to work on, and parts are cheap/easy to come by. While I will/am looking for a 5spd. XJ, I will look at other alternatives as well. Bottom line....my preference will be an XJ, but finding one can be the problem here. If I find a good deal on a 4-door, 5spd, 4wd Sidekick, 4-runner, Pathfinder, or an Amigo, ext. cab Ranger I might just buy it.

Now as far as wheeling is concerned.......pretty much Jeep all the way, with Suzuki coming in second place and 'Yota third. It's hard to beat a Jeep as an out of the box wheeler, especially an XJ due to how cheap they can be purchased and modified. What ever I end up with as a DD, I'm pretty confident I'll have Jeep (probably XJ) as a street legal trail rig. The only other scenerio would be modding a little Sammy and trailer it behind an XJ. mmmm......not a bad idea!!! That is if I get that itch back. It still burns when I pee though......

I first got bit by the Jeep bug when I was 5. My father bought a CJ7 Renegade and I've been hooked ever since.

I just made sure it also bit my wife so I can get Jeep stuff and buy Jeeps and parts with out any complaints..

I didnt really get bitten until the spring of last year. We were at my grandparents house looking at his old MJ Chief in the previous winter (my parents bought in new in 87 and sold it to them after my brother was born) He said he was wanting a new vehicle and my dad offered to buy it from him. We left it at that and didnt see him again until the spring. He said he was ready to sell it and my dad offered him $500 for it. The truck itself was a aweful shape, but the engine had only 86,000 on it and the interior was mint. I was with my dad when he bought it and I rode home with him. It died 2 times on us. Well, my dad said he was going to restore it... then came the junk yards and learning about what XJ parts would work and what axles there were... we took all the parts to a body shop and had it professionally painted... That is what got me...

But even as a kid, I always liked Jeeps, but not the way I do now. My first Jeep was a Powerwheels CJ...
