Recently when I was doing some work on hte jeep I removed a bunch of stuff and when I removed the air filter box I found this under it but have no idea what its for, what should it plug into, etc.

Its probably a option you didn't have.

 

nice. I was hoping it wasn't something that needed to be fixed even though the vehicle ran fine without it hooked up.

It may be a diagnostic connector for a code reader.
