Default what a f*cking headache

so i rebuilt the motor and replaced the trans in my WJ, plus a **** load of other parts. because of a now f*cked up situation i cannot register the vehicle. i am looking at buy a cheap donor body to throw all my new parts into and register, the only problem is im having a hard time finding one with a 4.0 and 4x4. i found one that has a 4.0 but is 2wd. now, having a complete donor 4x4 WJ, how difficult (if possible at all) would it be to make a 2wd a 4x4?

LOL, yep I figured I was out of range and out of budget too. I'd have to have a couple of thousand for mine as it runs and drives and all the four wheel stuff works with a rebuilt tranny already in it. Wish I could help with swap out info but have no clue if it can even be done without changing the entire front clip.

He77 yes it can be done! The front axle in the 2wd is just a tube that goes all the way across minus the differential. It's a crap load of work, but if you've got the time and perseverance, you've got all the parts. Don't get me wrong, it's a PITA project, but after all the money you spent on the 4X4, it would be a sin to waste it. By the time you're done with the conversion, you'll have something to be pride of and an experience worth having.

Before you get started, will you have any problems getting the new one to pass inspection? I'm talking paperwork. The VIN and title will still be 2wd. I doubt the insurance company will care.

Wish you the best of luck with it man, not a job I'd want to tackle but then again, I don't even think we HAVE 2wd grand Cherokee in new York unless someone came up from the South with one but they would be about useless here in winter.
