Welded gears
I have a 95 grand Cherokee I was wondering if anyone has welded the spider gears and if they hold up. I have welded gears before in other vehicles but not a jeep. I was wondering if they are strong enough. Thanks

If it's a 4L it's a D35. You can get a 44a out of a V8 ZJ that will bolt right in but will have 3.73s and you prob have 3.55s so you would need to swap the front as well. The 44a isn't as strong as a regular 44. It has an aluminum center section and c-clip axles like the 35 but the shafts are stronger and it's good with the 33s and 35s without a heavy foot even welded.

There is a small chance he has the 8.25C axle in the rear. Cant remember the exact yr/yrs they used what was in house but that axle actually made its way under a few of the ZJs. I think it was 96-97 era. Only behind the 4.0 though.
