Must be a special order thing because it isn't listed in any books I've found. It does come in the later WJs though.

There are a couple people on here in fact with the 8.25 rear. It was a short supply of the d35 so they used what was in stock and ended up being the 8.35c.

Look through this thread, one guy on here with a 97 ZJ has the 8.25 rear. I can't find the info I did back when I posted on there. I'll keep looking though.

Anything is possible I guess. I rode with a guy who swore he had one cause it wasn't a 35 and didn't have an aluminum center section and it turned out to be a 44 with cast center which most say weren't put in till after 98. His was a 96.
