ok to start its a 99 grand Cherokee limited with 242 swap has the v8. About a week ago it started to drive like it had a flat spot on the tire I checked no such luck in finding any issues. Then now when I make a left turn I hear the brake rotor sound as if ita rubbing when I turn. I also noticed a clicking like a spline not catching all the way from the left side as well. When I stopped after work I checked to see how hot the center diff was it nearly gave me a first degree burn from how hot it was and its full of oil so is it a bearing wheel bearing or a little more cause when I lifted the left side it seemed to have some play in it and ive never had this problem with any other jeep ive owned before and its got me stumped on what exactly is the issue. So any help or comments would be appreciated alot.

The 99 and up (WJ) uses a pressed on cartridge wheel bearing and there shouldn't be any in and out motion in the axle. If there is, the retaining collar that holds the bearing in place is loose and allowing the bearing to move on the axle, or the bearing itself is wasted. Any movement of the axle causes the brake rotor to rub against the brake pads and produce heat even with the brakes off. The older jeeps used c-clips to hold the axle in place. The WJ doesn't. There are just 4 bolts behind the axle flange that hold the seal in and the axle slides right out.
