Default V8 fuel pressure check?

96 Grand Cherokee Limited suddenly won't start; cranks but won't start. Gas gage said empty so I put in 5 gallons and it still says empty and I don't hear the fuel pump priming when I turn the key. I swapped the fuel pump relay with the AC clutch relay and no change. My Cherokee 6 cylinders have a pressure test port on the fuel rail but I do not see one on the Grand's V8. Is there an easy way to check fuel pressure before I think about having to drop the tank out there in the grass with the mosquitoes eating me up? Do the fuel rail connection lines just pull off after removing the plastic clip over the connection? Or do they have to be released by pushing something into the end around the metal line?

This is a ***** because it had been starting almost immediately ever since I gave it a new battery
