I have a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. I just had the water pump and radiator changed about 5 months ago....while that was being done i was told that my battery was ''very poor'' and that i'd need to get a new one. I havent yet since everything has been running fine. (and somewhat forgot about it). Recently, over the past few days i've experienced trouble starting up the engine.

It starts up fine in the mornings, after sitting overnight. (a little hesitation but pretty much starts right up)

After driving across town (30 miles) and stopping at the gas station it took me three attempts turning the key to get the engine to start. (never once heard a clicking noise, just seemed like it was struggling to start)

Again, after sitting out the in parking lot while i'm in my office working, it starts back up when i'm ready to leave (still with a little hesitation or ''stutter)

Is this just my battery being weak? or could it be something like my starter or solenoid contacts? My friend mentioned it could be the alternator, but i don't believe it is.

Had the exact same problem with a Ford F150, would start fine on a cold start but after driving was slow to crank and a couple times failed to start. Replace the battery and you'll be a happy camper.
