With regard to seal replacement- Honestly, even in my shop, we sent auto transmissions to specialist for rebuilds or internal parts. I'd only do front or rear seals, which are no big deal, other than having to R&R (remove and replace) the trans.

If it were mine, I would only be replacing seals when and if they ever start leaking. I believe that the "filter' is a screen and wouldn't need replacing; however, it is fine to do so. I'd drain, refill, drive it a few miles, and repeat four times. You'll essentially have approximately 92% new fluid, basically flushed. Then see how the shifting feels. Use Dexron III/Mercon or it's contemporary replacement. Honda recommends this procedure to flush their transmissions when the shifting becomes harsh. I have a 226,000-mile AW4 transmission that the pan has never been off of, doesn't leak a drop, and shifts beautifully. All I ever do is drain and refill it periodically.
