The 42re in my 00 WJ had a T-Tech service done at 106K just before I got it. That's a direct fluid displacement service without changing the filter. It now has 175K on it and I was wondering if doing a fluid and filter change now would cause any problems. I have had no problems with it so far other than slow engagement on super cold start-up. I get a code P0740, torque converter clutch, every couple of months, which I just reset. It is not leaking and the fluid looks and smells good.

Thanks, guys! That's what I wanted, a backup plan! It's amazing that this transmission has a bad reputation. A soccer mom put the first 125K on it and I've put an additional 50K on it without problems. Of course it was treated right and not abused. I want to put a trailer hitch on it NOT for towing, but as a rear recovery point.
