Default Transmission Issue

I have a 98 ZJ with the 4.0 and its having a slipping problem when it shifts from 2nd to 3rd. Now it will on slip if you drive it normal but if you give it a good amount of throttle it shifts perfect. I have replaced all of the sensors and new fluid and filter. I have even swapped transmissions and it does the same exact thing as the first transmission. Is there anything I might have over looked that would be causing this issue in 2 different transmissions now?

Does it kind of surger between the gears? Mine seems to be doing the same thing as yours. So far I figure I would drive it as is.

You might have low governor pressure. That shift it done electrically and is controlled by the TCM.

n00b here, but years ago I had a 2001 B Van with a 904 trans in it and it did the same thing for about six weeks before finally deciding to say bye bye. It didn't explode, it just decided that it wasn't going to go into any gears at all.

Since I wasn't the one paying for maintenance/repairs on it, the transmission was rebuilt in it but I think it was probably the governor/shift solenoid.

Is the TCM integrated into to main PCM? I looked under the dash for the TCM and couldn't find it.

Welcome to the forum.

The FSM has a great transmission diagnostic table for the 46RH transmission in your vehicle.

Has the fluid level been verified properly?

This topic shows my 46RH rebuild that may show useful information.
