a direct bolt/plug in transmission is a 44RE you can find that forsure in any ZJ from 96-98 and my assumption without researching it would be you could find it behind most dodge/chrysler product vehicles from 96-2000ish (or whenever they stopped using the 518) ,with a 518
other options include the 46RH out of a 93-95 V8 grand, or again any dodge vehicle with a 518 thats pre 96' im sure the 46re will bolt right in what idk is if it will plug in, because in 96 jeep switched from using the 46RH to the 44RE, idk why they did or if the transmission controll unit/ harness changed at all, no i make this assumption based on the fact that when an auto company stops using something in one model they stop in them all so im assuming in 96 Chrysler starter putting the 46RH behind jeep/dodge 518 vehicles and started using the 44re, but thats only a guess.
im not going to cover the manual trans' you can use since im sure you want to do a direct replacement.

I think you mean the 318 (5.2l), not a "518". The difference is an "RH" is a hydraulically shifted trans and an "RE" is electrically shifted in the 3rd & 4th gear range. The RE's shift points are controlled by the TCM (transmission control module).
