Transmission filter

Hi
I have a 1998 4.0 ZJ and want to do an oil and filter change on the auto box. The shop has 2 filters a metal filter and a felt filter. Does anyone know witch one is the right one for my Jeep.

My brother has a 95 and his used the one that was not metal. If you are doing it yourself buy them both and return the one you don't use.

FWIW,
No need to replace a metal filter unless its damaged. Simply pull, clean, reinstall.

Just did my 98 and bought the metal thinking it would be better quality. Long story short, the metal is too thick, meaning the pan would not seat correctly, it hit the filter.
