I have a 2004 grand Cherokee limited, The TV (or throwdown) cable started giving me issues. I tried adjusting it numerous times and had no luck, it would either hold 2nd too long or jump in and out of 2nd instantly. Well it finally "gave out", It was acting like the jeep was in neutral, so I put it in 4x4 low and took it out of overdrive and limped home. during the trip it would act like it was in neutral and I would rev it up to about 2200rpm and it would catch and move approximately 20 or 30 feet and I would repeat the process. I should also mention it would keep blowing the 50amp fuse under thr hood. At this point it is in the driveway unable to move. One of my questions is , did I ruin the solenoid pack? Or did I strip the clutch plates? It is an automatic transmission. Any help or advice will be appreciated, I do all my own mechanical work, but do not know a whole lot about transmissions.
