Temperature issues, cylinder issues?
I have an 04 Grand Cherokee Laredo. I have had the check engine light come on and the code read a cylinder misfire, after I have been driving when I stop at a stop light or if I am in a drive thru for to long the temperature gage starts rising, it has maxed out and a light came on that said check gages. It has died on me one time, it acts like it wants to die sporadically when I am driving it will "chug" like its going to die? It seems like when it is warmer out the faster the temperature gage rises in short amounts of time idling but when I start driving it goes down. Please help!!
Any suggestions are something!
Thank you

Fan not turning on. Most likley there is permanent engine damage though, u never drive a vehical so hot that it over heats. $200 fix turns in to 3k fix.
Ok. Thanks. And the one time the temp went max i shut the car off and waited for a while to drive. Why most likely permanent engine damage? The cylinder misfire code and it acting like it wants to die has nothing to do with the whole temperature issue right?

youll probably be OK. I overheated pretty bad out on a trail, I had to keep turning it off and on to make it back down the trail and she was fine. broken t stat made the temp peg up to close to 300F.

Its either your fan malfunctioning or your T-Stat is probably sticking, the Thermostat is a 5 dollar part and super easy to replace. Just make sure you get every bit of the old thermostat housing gasket off before putting the new one back on, use a wire brush.

Your Cylinder misfire could be something as simple as a bad coil.
