Ok I sent jeep my vin for my 1994 jeep grand Cherokee 5.2 V8 to get a spec sheet on my truck. I was told the Build Date for my truck is May 19, 1994. And the In-Service Date is June 6, 1994.

Having trouble is figuring out if I need to get a 242 from a 95 or newer grand cherokee? The gear change is what's confusing and what actual year of grand Cherokee should i be looking for as far as getting the 242 from? As usual and feedback is appreciated.

I think what you need to do is look under your jeep and look at the tag on your transfer case. The tag tells you the date of the build. Once you know the month your Tcase was built, just look for one that is the same age or older. I am going to guess you need a tcase from mid 94 and earlier. Good luck with the swap.
