ok earlier I lifted my jeep up to see if the 4wheel all time was working. It is left rear and right front spin then when I give it gas all 4 kicked in. Here's the strange part when it's on the ground only the rear spin any idea what this means, or what it may be that's preventing the front axle from engaging on the ground. Its a 99 grand limited 4.7 with the 247 t case. 4 wheel low works great though.

I have an '04 WJ w/the 4.7 and Quarda-Trac II using the NV247 t-case. When you take off hard on pavement, grass, or dirt, the rear tires will spin briefly then the front tires will grab. That's the way it's supposed to work. If the front axle won't engage on yours there might be an issue with the gerotor pump in the t-case.

Thanks that is helpful and mine just sits and spins so im thinking I will tear her down and see I've got an extra t case that had a broken chain so ill swap out those pumps and see what happens my eventual plan is to convert her over to a 242 but it's been a slow process.

You have only one front wheel and one rear spinning because you have open diffs, the power will go to the wheels with the least resistance. When on the ground and traction being equal for all four wheels, you will get power transmitted to all four corners. That is unless you have a transfercase problem.
