my transfer case on 95 jeep grand cherolee 5.2 is making a loud noise and was told that need rebuilt. i have a 249j transfer case off of 96 cherokee, i know the input shaft is longer, could i use the input shaft on the 96 to my 95 trans. any help would be appreciate, dont want to get the shaft for the 96 if not going to work, worse come to worse i might just have my 95 transfer case rebuilt. thanks

 

First of the 249 was never put into a Cherokee. Only the GRAND Cherokees.

All inputs in the 231, 242 and 249 are swappable to get what you need.

Easy enough, split cases swap inputs install. I've done a few of them..

 

sorry mine is a grand cherokee. so you saying i can take out the input install on my 95 and install it on the 96 transfer case and be able to use my 95 input shaft with no problem.
