Trans Trouble
95 GC 2 wheel drive 42re trans,was run down on trans fluid so far it would not move,,,,changed fluid,filter etc...now has forward gears just fine,but shudders in reverse,,i hope to save it any ideas about whats going on in there,or is the trans toast from running it out of fluid ,any help appreciated

Welcome to CF!
You may be able to adjust the band, but I suggest you consult a trans tech about it. NOT a shop, because they are going to tell you it needs a rebuild. Obviously, the clutches are crispy, but you may be able to get more service out of it if you baby it. Also, make sure you check the fluid level in NEUTRAL, not Park. It will be about 1 quart low when it reads full in park. READ THE DIPSTICK!

That would be the back band ,correct ??the back one is for 3rd and reverse if i'm not mistaken,,,,gosh it's been so long since i had to adjust bands,but i remember doing it on a 2000 dodge neon years ago....

I think so too, but in order to check for sure, I'd have to go out in the garage and look at my manual. Maybe later. I've been up all night and ready for some shuteye. Sorry.
