I have been shopping for an XJ, but today I found a 96 grand cherokee I guess that is the ZJ. Correct me if I am wrong. Will a trans from a 99 Grand Cherokee fit a 96 with NO issues? If there are conversion issues what are they and how hard are they to fix. Will the 96 T-case fit on the back of the 99 trans. The trans came out of a 99 with 90k miles and was behind a I-6.

If this is an easy swap I might be going to get this thing today for 600. I hooked the jumper cables up and it fired right up and purred quietly. Couldn't drive it though has a bad trans with black fluid...

No.. different trans and bellhousing bolt pattern.


I'm not sure if a 42re from a 99 Grand Cherokee (WJ) is a direct bolt in for the 96 42re in the ZJ. Try Google.. might help.
