Default trans pan leaking

my trans pan was leaking because when i pulled the trans out a few weeks ago, i loosened a corner of the pan to drain some fluid out. i neglected to re seal the pan. today, i pulled the pan off to reseal it. i cleaned off all the old gasket and sillicone, and put the pan back on with a new fel pro rubber gasket and black rtv sealant. tightened the bolts down in a cross pattern as well. went outside a few minutes ago and the pan is leaking again, worse than before. what the hell?

because the rtv isnt going to help the rubber gasket. rtv is pretty much a liquid rubber so why would you pretty much put 2 gaskets on the trans pan.

Go to the dealer and get a reusable gasket for about 20 bucks, money well spent.

I would never use rtv on a trans pan. If chunks of it get into the fluid, it can plug up ports and valves easily. Make sure the pan is flat around the bolt holes, they tend to get distorted by overtightening. You can flatten out the dents by putting a flat steel bar under the pan edge and hammering the dents flat.
