Default Tires question

Hi guys. I need help here.
I recently bought a 00 grand Cherokee 2wd. V8
I want to put big tires on it.
Do I need to lift the jeep for that?
I want 265/75/16 with American racing black rims.
I was thinking to get a 2 inch spacers for that. But I really need it?

The jeep came with 22s they are goin away. I knw it's a 2wd but I want it for looks.

My friend has some 31s x 10.5 so Might get those.
What u guys think is my best option?
Thank u

you'll want a 2 inch spacer kit. stock it might fit a 30 inch tire with maybe a tiny bit of fender rubbing but for anything bigger youll want a 2 inch spacer kit. rubicon express has a decent kit for a good price

Outstanding, Rubicon Express is out of business right now. They've been closed since January for "reorganization", and the people I talk to in the know, suggest it'll be at the very least "weeks" before they're back up and running again.

Another excellent post, he has a WJ, and you have a ZJ. They're 2 totally different vehicles...

Just quickly looking at a WJ forum told me you could run a set of metric 31's w/ the 2" BB.

Default 2 wheel drive tire size

Hey fellas, I'm brand new to this site so if my ignorance shows, please excuse, I'm tryin to learn. I recently got my first Jeep - a 1998 grand Cherokee. It's 2 wheel drive but I am fine with that. I love it. I just ran across a good set of 31X10.5X15 wheels & tires and really want to run them on my GC. I know I need a lift kit but I am hearing too many different answers. I was probably asking the wrong people tho. So I was directed to this site. I am hoping to know what lift I will need to run these wheels & tires and how much it matters that my GC is only a 2 wheel drive?? most all lift kits I see on e-bay are for 4 wheel drive and I do not want to convert. I like my 2 wheel drive for now. Dont even really want to off road yet either so dont need super heavy duty lift stuff. Just want to run these 31X10.5X15s on my 2 wheel drive 98 GC. Anyone willing to help me out with lift info? Thanks. Tree

Thanks everyone for the replies.

I seen some spacers on eBay. 2 and 3 inch lift kit. All I need is the spacers right?

My jeep has 22s the previos owner put them awhile ago.
They rub a little on the fender.
Only on the drivers side.

So Any 2 inch spacers are good right?
What rims are betters 15s or 16s?
Thanks everyone

I wouldn't run over 2-2.25" spacer. Once you go over that point the spacer starts to hang below the spring post, and you run the risk of dropping a coil out flexing. With you having a WJ, you don't have the option of running a 15" rim, it won't fit over the brake caliper.

The spacer is fine, just don't run a 3" spacer. Get a set of metric 31's that'll fit on your 16's.

I think a 3in would be fine... he's 2wd so he's not gonna be flexing if at all... in fact with 3in pucks his stock suspension will be flexeds out already... chances of him dropping a spring are slim to none... unless he jumps it or something stupid... lol

In case your wondering a metric 31" is 265/70/16. They will actually be a fraction smaller than a 31. 265/75/16's are closer to 32's.
