Default Threw a rod today

so i was driving my sisters 2002 jeep grand cherokee today.
and as i was driving away from school, as far as i can tell, threw a rod out of the bottom of the motor.

i am not a mechanic, but there is a dime size hole in the oil pan now.
i had to push it into a BK parking lot.

but it does crank, i had to drive it onto a car dolly, but it was loud as h*ll.

it is the 4.0L motor.

but is it going to be worth it for her to replace it?
the jeep has 150xxx miles on it. a few problems like windows and A/C but other than that it just needs a few high milage replacements like 4 shocks and breaks.

what do you guys think?
the body and inside are in very good shape.

Replacing the engine is cheaper than a new car payment for five years. 150k miles is nothing to a Jeep. How did you throw a rod in a 4.0?

Cylinder one is very problematic for the 4.0's.

Coolant enters the block directly in front of cylinder one which can cause the cylinder to warp due to rapid heating/cooling.

$750 seems a bit high, look around. You can probably find someone to do it for under $500. Check craigslist for an i6, you can find them all the time. I just picked one up for $125 delivered...

The $750 most likely includes the labor, it's a fair price.

We all know how painful that can be. LOL!

Sorry, I had to say it.
